Learning Theories

  • Behaviorist: Learning is defined as a change in behavior
  • Developmental: Learning occurs through assimilation, accommodation, and equilibration (resolution of cognitive dissonance)
  • Cognitive: Meaning is constructed by the learner, and influenced by prior knowledge and beliefs
  • Social Cognitive: People and their environments naturally influence each other
  • Constructivism: Learning is a process of knowledge construction, not knowledge recording or absorption
  • Sociocultural: Complex mental processes begin as social activities but are later used independently

Why I Made This

By researching and providing my students with supplementary texts, I hope to broaden their knowledge of statistics and gain a better understanding of how the abstract concepts in class can be applied to real world data.
